The Hanin Investment Group is a local commercial real estate group that has grown through its principled investment practices and focus on community businesses. The principal Kyu Kim founded the group with its first commercial real estate investment property in Coquitlam in 2001. Mr. Kim and his group acquired this 5 acre site with a near 70% vacancy after the exit of the property’s anchor tenant. Within less than two years, the property was fully leased with its new anchor tenant H Mart having opened its first location in Canada. The Hanin Investment Group played a pivotal role in the growth and cultivation of the Korean community in Coquitlam and the revitalization of the North Road area in what is now often referred to as the heart of KoreaTown. While this property was eventually sold in 2006, the Hanin Investment Group has remained active in commercial real estate in Coquitlam, Burnaby, Surrey and across the lower mainland.
Over the past 21 years, the group has seen great change across the real estate landscape in British Columbia and has pivoted to the changes to continue its growth. Having actively managed a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate, Mr. Kim has led the group in the pursuit to deliver much needed office and commercial retail to the small businesses in Coquitlam. The group is currently in the process of applying to redevelop a site for a mixed office commercial development. Having found its roots in Coquitlam, the Hanin Investment Group remains active in the support of businesses and community organizations in the Tri-cities.
